Mixed Media Artist / Willmar, MN
As an artist, I enjoy the dynamics of the art-making process. Currently,
my artwork is created with mixed media. “Mixed media” means
a variety of art materials such as paint, ink, watercolor, pastels, and
papers are employed to create the work. Another characteristic of mixed
media includes using a variety of techniques such as printing, painting,
drawing, and collage to achieve certain effects in a one of a kind artwork.
I focus on the creative process and producing artwork that is meaningful to me and attractive to the viewer. Inspiration for creating the works comes from teaching art, nature, and my surrounding environment. These experiences dictate the style and media I use in an artwork. For instance, when working out doors, on location, I draw and paint the scene with ink wash. Whereas, when working with less concrete concepts, I prefer using abstract collage methods and monoprinting. The unpredictability of printmaking and mixed media is exciting and my goal is to experience the rewards of communicating through this method and other forms of visual art.
